Vicky Cowin
Vicky is an an award winning textile designer and artist. Explorations of surface, texture and three dimensionality inspire her woven designs. These coupled with the ritualistic and meditative qualities of weaving enable her to investigate the innate power of alchemy, symbols, unspoken communications, buried beliefs and superstitions. Wall pieces and samples are transformed into fetishes and talismans. The use of an eclectic mix of materials and complex traditional techniques such as velvet and multiple cloths enable her to elevate flat planes to constructed physical presences.
