Morgan Freya Lewis

Morgan is a mixed Caribbean and White British artist whose practice centres on placemaking, story-sharing and community engagement through mixed media. Working primarily with collage and assemblage, she explores how environments hold memory and meaning and what is lost when spaces are reshaped or erased.

By intentionally omitting people from her compositions, Morgan reflects on absence as a marker of displacement, inviting viewers to consider the traces left behind when communities are removed or overlooked. Her work captures the tension between belonging and exclusion, examining how regeneration and redevelopment can alter the cultural and emotional fabric of place.

Rooted in storytelling and collective experience, Morgan’s practice draws on her own mixed-race heritage while extending outward through collaboration with diverse communities via workshops, cultural programming and participatory projects. Her approach is grounded in empathetic listening, honest representation and a deep sensitivity to the layered narratives that shape our sense of place.
