CATALYST | Assistant Set & Costume Designer on Upcoming Production
As part of the Donmar Warehouse’s CATALYST professional development programme, this fixed-term freelance role offers early-career set and costume designers the opportunity to assist a lead Designer on a major Donmar production. Through a combination of practical support and close observation, the Assistant Set & Costume Designer will gain first-hand experience of a high-level production process, contributing to technically complex set elements and an evolving costume design shaped through rehearsal. The role is designed to support artists who have been historically underrepresented in the sector, offering tailored training, mentorship and exposure to industry-leading creative teams.

Experience in set and costume design at fringe or professional level
Ability to collaborate with creative, technical and stage management teams
Strong articulation of artistic vision and design process
Confidence working in rehearsal rooms and production environments
High levels of organisation, note-taking and attention to detail
Emotional intelligence and sensitivity when working on challenging subject matter
Willingness to learn, adapt and contribute proactively to a fast-paced production team
