Technical Manager

The Albany seeks an experienced Technical Manager to lead its Production team on a one-year fixed-term contract (£35,000 per annum, full-time, with potential extension). The role oversees all technical operations across lighting, sound, AV, and stage management at the Albany and Deptford Lounge. You’ll manage a team of technicians, apprentices, and freelancers, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality production delivery for performances, hires, and community events. Responsibilities include event planning, maintenance, health and safety compliance, and budget oversight. This is a hands-on leadership role for a skilled technician and team manager passionate about technical excellence and inclusive, sustainable live performance.

Key skills:

Proven leadership and team management in live performance environments

Advanced knowledge of lighting, sound, AV, and stage management

Experience with Chamsys, GrandMA, ETC desks, Yamaha consoles, and QLab

Strong workflow, planning, and problem-solving skills

Health & Safety and compliance expertise

Excellent communication and customer service

Ability to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends
