The West African Literary Circle: Things Fall Apart
07 Jul 26 — 07 Jul 26

Venue: SET Social, 55a Nigel Road
The West African Literary Circle invites readers, thinkers, and the culturally curious to gather for its first monthly circle at SET Social.Dedicated to celebrating the rich tapestry of literature from across West Africa and its diaspora, the circle is a relaxed and welcoming space, encouraging open discussion, shared reflection, and community connection. Whether you’re deeply familiar with the text or joining out of interest in West African storytelling, readers of all backgrounds are welcome.
For the first session, the circle will discuss Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe, a landmark novel examining tradition, colonialism, masculinity, and cultural change in pre- and post-colonial Nigeria.
Don’t worry if you haven’t finished the chapters or are new to the group. Each session includes focused time to read a specific chapter silently or as a group, so initial reading is not strictly required to participate.
Attendees are welcome to replenish themselves during and after the circle at the bar or café.
