Ariane Fourquier

I am a researcher, writer and hand weaver. My practice seeks for innovation in the way we experience material, texture and colour. I recently graduated from the Royal College of Art and I am now on an Award at the Cockpit Arts. My current projects area is the development of therapeutic woven materials for health purposes. My artistic practice focuses on the illness of PTSD related to sexual violence against women and seeks in developing materials to reconnect them with their sense of touch and their understanding of colour on an intimate and emotional level.
I studied both Embroidery (at London College of Fashion) and weave (at The Royal College of Art) and after a brief career in fashion, I decided to focus my practice on developing innovative materials and investigate the use of soft systems for clothing.
I recently joined the program FUSION organised by the Craft Council where I will be developing textiles for active ageing, using digital fabrication and e-textiles.
