Alaina Cherry
Alaina Cherry is an American painter based in London, pursuing her MFA in Fine Art at Goldsmiths school of London. She graduated from Brown University in the spring of 2024 with BAs in Visual Art and Cognitive Neuroscience. Alaina utilizes oil and acrylic paints to create complex compositions that engage the viewer and force them to look closer at the work and at themselves. She uses large scale canvases and vibrant colors to emphasize the importance of representation, showcase gender and race dynamics, and allow her figures to fill the room. As a black queer woman, Alaina explores how these intersectional identities are influenced by strict societal norms and expectations. Since moving to London Alaina has shown in several exhibitions around the city, and she is due to graduate from Goldsmiths in summer 2026.
