Aileen Kelly



Aileen Kelly was born in Northern Ireland in 1967. She studied Fine Art at the University of Ulster and won a scholarship to the European MA in Fine art at Winchester School of Art in Barcelona. Aileen has shown in a number of prominent exhibitions and won the prestigious national visual art award ‘Perspectives’ in 1999. She was also shortlisted for the AIB Artists of Promise Award in 2003. One of her most recent works was selected for the Spirit of Womenhood exhibition in London 2014. Showing alongside international artists such as Tracy Emin, ‘School Number One’ draws on a constant theme in Aileen’s work related to power and vulnerability. The selection panel included curators from the White Cube, Sotheby’s and the Victoria and Albert Museum. Aileen is based at Childers Street Studios in Deptford South London.
