SHAPESLewisham Launch

Date: 15 May 19 — 16 Aug 19
Venue: Second Floor Studio & Arts Deptford Foundry

Description

We celebrated the launch of the SHAPESLewisham network and website by placing the creative residents at its heart. It will also be an opportunity for local businesses and practitioners to showcase their work and demonstrate the breadth of creative people within the community, through static pieces and a range of performances. The public was encouraged to meet fellow creative neighbours, make new connections and hear about all the exciting happenings across the Borough!

The event began with the performance of the Alchemy project, set a fantastic tone for the morning. The outstanding performances represented the local creative music scene as well. The studio walks around combined with the performance from Trinity Laban and i2 Media’s VR set, created an exciting atmosphere.

The evening had a more relaxed atmosphere primarily hosted in the car park and focused more towards the launch of SHAPESLewisham. The exhibitor’s works and live DJ set by AAJA Radio created a real atmosphere of celebration of local creatives.

The speakers focused on the importance of; grassroots creative businesses in the area, the availability of space, the importance of networking, and the necessity of the projects such as SHAPESLewisham to help with these key issues.

Attendees

The morning had a great turnout with some amazing guests including Justine Simons, Deputy London Mayor.

In the evening there was a total of 118 Eventbrite ticket bookings, in addition to the Second Floor Studios & Arts studio residents.
